It took nearly two months for the approval process to be completed, but The Evergreen State College track & field student-athlete
Zeb Hoffman is now the American Masters record holder in the M35 (Men's Age 35-39) Indoor Superweight Throw.
Hoffman, the 37-year-old Olympia native, threw the 56-pound superweight 12.97 meters (42-6) at a meet held in Snohomish, Wash., on Dec. 23, 2016, and that mark was submitted to USA Track & Field (USATF) for approval. Hoffman received an email from Jeff Brower, USATF Masters Record Chair, indicating that the record is now his.
The former record was 12.76 meters (41-10) set by Ken Jansson in 1996.
Formal ratification of Hoffman's record is scheduled for December 2017 at the USATF Annual Meeting.
