FOREST GROVE, Ore. -
Ali Mackey improved on her school record in the women's hammer throw and
Zeb Hoffman recorded a NAIA national meet qualifying effort in the men's hammer on Saturday to lead the way for The Evergreen State College at the Pacific Luau track and field meet hosted by Pacific University.
Mackey threw the hammer 30.25 meters (99- 3 1/4), an improvement of more than four feet from earlier this year, to place seventh in her event. Hoffman, the defending NAIA men's hammer throw champion, easily won today's competition with a throw of 59.25 meters (194-5). That mark will move him as high as second in the national rankings, depending on other performances from around the country.
Camille Christenson had the second best triple jump of her two-year Evergreen career, leaping 9.79 meters (32-1 1/2) to place sixth in that event, and she also finished fourth in the 100-meter dash with a time of 13.83.
Rounding out the day for the Geoducks was
Pauline Allen, seventh in the 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 15:03.10.
Evergreen returns to action on Saturday, April 22, at the Cougar Open hosted by Clackamas Community College in Oregon City, Ore.
