The Evergreen State College women's basketball team picked up its second win on the season Saturday evening defeating Walla Walla 71-60.
The Wolves came back in the fourth quarter to tie the game at 58 with 4:03 left. Free Throws by
Trinity Betoney gave Evergreen the 60-58 lead. After a few turnovers and then missed baskets,
Jerri Maluyo scored two and made the free throw as she was fouled.
WWU scored only two more points after tying the game and Evergreen took the win. The Geoducks scored their last seven points off free throws.
Anna Cook and
Trinity Betoney both recorded a double-double for Evergreen. Betoney recorded 18 points and 12 rebounds and Cook had 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Merrily Jones had 15 points and
Jerri Maluyo recorded 14.
Walla Walla was led by Jaliyah Casm and Jacqueline Saucedo, who both had 17 points. Saucedo recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds. Isabella Robles recorded 14 points.
Evergreen shot 42.1 percent from the floor to Walla Walla's 38.2 percent. The Wolves recorded 22 turnovers and Evergreen had nine steals.
The Geoducks are back in action on Tuesday at home against Northwest Univ. tipoff is set for 5:30 p.m.
