KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Evergreen State women's basketball team lost its Cascade Collegiate Conference opener to Northwest, 66-54 on Tuesday night.
Northwest (5-1, 1-0 CCC) started the game on a 10-2 run and would remain in front for the remainder of the contest. The Geoducks would get the deficit to as little as four, 54-50 with 8:48 left to play. An 8-2 spurt by the host Eagles would end the comeback hopes for the visitors from Olympia.
The Eagles were paced by a double double performance by Sam VanLoo, who had 16 points and 12 rebounds to go along with six assists. Caitlin Monten added 12 points and eight rebounds, plus Livi Lindsey chipped in 11 points.
The Geoducks (0-2, 0-1 CCC)
Trinity Betoney scored 20 points – the 13th time in her career and the first time on the season in the loss. She was joined in double figures for the second-straight game by
Monique Bungay, who had 10 points to go along with three steals.
