Corban Defeats The Evergreen State Men's Basketball, 93-59

SALEM, Ore. - The Evergreen State men's basketball team shot 40% from the field and three players – Austin Curry (18 pts.), Mitch Wetmore (15 pts.) and LaBrandon Price (10 pts.) – in a 93-59 loss to host Corban on Sunday afternoon.
 
The two teams traded leads for the first five minutes of the game until Psalm Maduakor made a 3-pointer that put the host Warriors ahead by an 11-8 margin and for the remainder of the contest. Corban stretched the lead on an 18-2 run midway through the half as the Geoducks got the deficit to as little as two on a pair of occasions.

With the loss, the Evergreen State College falls to 2-11 on the season and 2-7 on CCC. The win is the third in a row for Corban, who improves to 10-8 overall and 5-5 in CCC play.
 
Corban had balanced scoring with Talin Lewis scoring a team-high 26 points on a 9-for-13 effort from the field and a 6-for-8 effort from the free-throw line. Lewis was joined in double figures by Mateo Escheik (16 pts.), Maduakor (14 pts.) and Denis Kirichenko (11 pts.). The Warriors shot at a 47.8% clip from the field, including 10 3-pointers in the win.
 
For the Geoducks, with 18 points from Curry, the graduate student from Lacey has scored in double figures in four of his last five games. Plus, Wetmore – who had 15 points – has been in double digits in six of his last eight games with a pair of 15-point efforts. Price, who is also a graduate student from Lacey, has scored in double figures in three of his five games
 
Next, The Evergreen State College will return to the Costantino Recreation Center on Friday, Jan. 14 to face The College of Idaho at 7:30 p.m. and on Saturday, Jan. 15 against Eastern Oregon at 5 p.m.
