Tacoma, Wash. - A.goal in each half by host Puget Sound propelled the host Loggers to a 2-0 win over Evergreen State in the season opener for both teams.
The Loggers (1-0) got on the scoreboard just before halftime when Luke Hearn found the back of the net after a long pass from teammate Stiuart Methner in the 43rd minute for the early lead. A penalty kick in the 80th minute provided the final margin.
The Geoducks (0-1) Andreas Malunt had two of the three shots for Evergreen State in the defeat.
Colin Hauser came up with five saves to lead the defense.
Next, Evergreen State will face another Northwest Conference foe, Pacific on Friday at 7 p.m. in Forest Grove, Oregon.
