A Tough Defeat on the Court for Evergreen’s Geoducks

Box Score

OLYMPIA, Wash. - The Evergreen Men's Basketball team faced a challenging night as they clashed with the Southern Oregon Raiders, resulting in a tough defeat with a final score of 51 - 92. The Raiders brought an intense game to Evergreen, securing a lead early in the game and maintaining control throughout the matchup. Despite the Geoducks' efforts to counter the offensive onslaught, Southern Oregon surged ahead, outscoring them in each quarter and establishing a significant lead.

The exchange revealed moments of determination and resilience, with our Geoducks scoring 21 points in the first half and 30 in the second, but the Southern Oregon defense proved to be a formidable challenge. Under the leadership of new Head Coach, Cameron Swanson, the Men's Basketball team will undoubtedly use this experience as a platform for growth and improvement as they navigate the challenges of the season.

The loss comes at a painful moment for the college. Evergreen is grieving the death of computer science student, Jonathan Rodriguez, who tragically lost his life on campus Monday night. Out of respect for his family, friends, and loved ones, the game opened with a moment of silence honoring Jonathan's life. As the team mourns his loss and regroups, preparing for their upcoming matchups, especially against Oregon Institute of Technology tomorrow, the focus will be on learning from the tough moments and building on the strengths that define the Geoduck spirit. The Evergreen State College Men's Basketball Team remains resilient, and with determination, they look ahead to future opportunities to showcase their skill and tenacity on the basketball court.
