OLYMPIA, Wash. - In a closely contested and spirited home game, the Evergreen State College Women's Basketball team faced off against the Northwest University Eagles, resulting in a narrow
65 - 68 loss. Despite the final score, the Geoducks showcased fierce determination against a formidable opponent, making Faculty and Staff Appreciation Night a memorable event for the campus community.
The game began with an intense first quarter, where the Geoducks posted 16 points, closely trailing the Eagles who scored 19. The competitive spirit continued into the second quarter, with Evergreen scoring 13 points while Northwest University added 14, keeping the game tightly contested. The third quarter saw a strong offensive effort from Evergreen, as they scored 19 points while limiting the Eagles to just 9. The Geoducks' resilience and strategic play in the third quarter added an extra layer of excitement to the game. Entering the fourth and final quarter, the Geoducks continued to battle, scoring 17 points. However, the Eagles responded with 26 points to secure the narrow victory. The high-scoring final quarter showcased the determination of both teams.
Several standout performances contributed to Evergreen's strong showing.
Sydney Vanness led the team with an impressive 24 points during her 34 minutes on the court. Vanness's accuracy, making 10 out of 16 attempted field goals and sinking 4 out of 7 attempted three-point shots, demonstrated her scoring prowess.
Jenna Glenzel also delivered an admirable performance, scoring 21 points during their 40 minutes in play. Glenzel's contributions included making 9 out of 14 attempted field goals and connecting on 3 out of 5 three-point shots.
Thuyvi Tran played a pivotal role in the game, scoring 10 points during her 33 minutes on the court. Tran's contributions, including 3 out of 11 attempted field goals and 2 out of 3 attempted three-point shots, added to the Geoducks' offensive efforts.
