ASHLAND, Ore. - In a challenging away game against Southern Oregon University, the Evergreen State College Women's Basketball team faced a tough opponent and encountered a setback with a final score of
43 - 74. Despite the loss, individual efforts highlighted the Geoducks' resilience and commitment on the court.
The first quarter set the stage for a competitive matchup, with Evergreen scoring 4 points while Southern Oregon took an early lead with 18. The Raiders demonstrated a strong defensive presence, creating challenges for the Geoducks. In the second quarter, Evergreen fought back, scoring 17 points, but SOU extended their lead with 29 points. The Geoducks showcased determination as they sought to close the gap on the scoreboard. Entering the third quarter, the Geoducks faced a tough defensive contest, scoring 8 points while SOU added 14. Despite the challenges, Evergreen continued to compete, demonstrating their commitment to the game. In the fourth and final quarter, the Geoducks scored 14 points while SOU added 13. Individual performances added a competitive edge to the game, with players contributing both on offense and defense.
Allison Deberry stood out during her 36 minutes on the court, scoring 11 points. Deberry showcased her shooting accuracy by making 4 out of 9 attempted field goals and connecting on all 3 of her attempted three-point shots.
Sydney Vanness also delivered a commendable performance, scoring 10 points during her 25 minutes in the game. Vanness displayed her scoring versatility, making 4 out of 14 attempted field goals and sinking both of her 2 attempted free throws.
