Gallegos and Sea Score in Loss to College of Idaho

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Alejandro Gallegos (Sr., D) and Marvin Sea (Jr., F) each scored a goal for The Evergreen State College, but College of Idaho defeated the Geoducks 5-2 at Geoduck Pitch on Friday, Oct. 31. Keiden Green earned two goals and an assist for the Yotes, while Pierre Fabre added one goal and two assists.

The Yotes upped their record to 5-3-4 on the season, 5-3-3 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer standings. Evergreen dropped to 1-11-2 overall, 1-8-2 in the CCC.

Each team scored one goal in the first half. Evan Dickinson scored first for C of I on a header from 13 yards at 28:48 following a free kick. Pierre Fabre, who took the free kick, earned an assist. Evergreen tied the game with a goal by Gallegos just under three minutes later at 31:44. Gallegos hit the net with an 8-yard header following a corner kick by Cooper Davis (So., M), who received an assist.

College of Idaho broke the 1-1 tie by scoring two goals in the first 2:46 of the second half. Green tallied the goal on an 18-yard shot to the lower left corner of the net at 45:42. Sawyer Luthy assisted on the play. Fabre scored next at 47:46 on an unassisted play. He passed from 33 yards out on the right side, but the ball went over his teammate and bounced into the net.

Two additional goals increased College of Idaho's lead to 5-1. Green scored on a tap-in at the left post on a corner kick at 70:05, with Fabre earning an assist. At 73:03, Nico Erlank hit the net with a two-yard shot on an assist from Green.

The Geoduck put in their second goal a big over four minutes later at 77:30. Sea scored the goal with a short shot that was deflected by the Yotes but rolled across the goal line.

C of I achieved a 17-14 overall advantage in shots. Evergreen outshot the Yotes 8-6 in the first half, but C of I gained an 11-6 edge in the second half. For the game, C of I held an 8-6 margin in shots on target. Evergreen was credited with an 11-6 lead in corner kicks.

Matej Horn played the first 63:28 in goal for the Yotes and made three saves while claiming the win. Ben Anderson earned one save in the final 26:32. Evergreen goalkeeper Tom Cole (Jr.) provided the Geoducks with three saves while playing all 90 minutes.

Evergreen will take on Eastern Oregon University on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Regional Athletic Complex (RAC) at 8345 Steilacoom Road SE in Lacey, Washington. Game time is set for 3 p.m. PDT. The game was moved from Geoduck Pitch due to field conditions.
