Joseph Tallies 30 Points, but Geoducks Fall to Multnomah

PORTLAND, Ore. -- Jourdan Joseph (Sr., G) of The Evergreen State College led all scorers with 30 points, but Multnomah defeated the Geoducks 108-94 on Friday, Feb. 7 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference game. The Lions were topped by Alileyon Ford, who finished with 17 points.

Joseph was 7 of 12 from the field, hit 4 of 6 three-pointers, and went 12 for 13 at the free throw line. He also earned five rebounds and four assists. Solomon Campbell (Jr., F) scored 11 points for the Geoducks, while grabbing eight rebounds and blocking two shots. 

Garrett Long (Jr., G/W) and Bradley Graham (Jr., G) each made three 3-point baskets on their way to nine points for Evergeen. Tyler No (So., G) also scored nine points and was 3 for 5 on field goals, including one 3-pointer.

Ford made a trio of 3-pointers for the Lions. He was joined in double figures by Marge Windfield with 16 points, Kadeem Nelson with 15 points, and Lareel Stewart with 12 points. Windfield and Nelson each matched Ford with three 3-point baskets. Stewart was 6 of 7 shots on field goals. Ford led the Lions with six rebounds. Nelson achieved five rebounds and five assists.

The win improved Multnomah to 14-8 on the season, 10-7 in the CCC. Evergreen fell to 1-19 overall, 1-16 in the CCC.

Evergreen was 28 for 63 on field goals (44.4%), while connecting on 14 of 26 three-pointers (53.8%). The Geoducks sank 24 of 29 free throws (82.8%). Multnomah made 38 fo 74 field goals (51.4%). The Lions put through 14 of 30 long-range shots (46.7%) and hit 18 of 26 free throws (69.2%). Multnomah attained a 49-35 rebounding margin.

The Geoducks led 14-6 after Joseph hit a 3-pointer with 16:32 remaining in the first half. Multnomah responded with a 6-0 run to cut the margin to two points. Later, Evergreen grabbed a 28-18 advantage on a 3-pointer by Long at the 11:13 mark. TESC held a 33-24 margin with 9:51 on the clock following a pair of free throws by Campbell.

Multnomah claimed a 21-14 scoring edge over the remainder of the half. The run ended with five consecutive points by the Lions on layups by Nelson with 1:16 to go and Stewart with 1:03 on the clock to reduce Evergreen's lead to 47-45 at the break.

Keilan Torkornoo provided the Lion with a 48-47 lead when he hit a 3-pointer early in the second half. The basket started an 8-0 individual run by Torkornoo, who added a traditional three-point play and a layup to increase Multnomah's margin to 53-47 with 18:17 to play.

Evergreen pulled within 58-55 on a layup by Campbell with 15:11 left, and moved as close as 61-59 on a basket from Daniel Thomas (Sr., G) as the clock reached 12:59. Multnomah owned a 75-61 lead following two free throws by Nelson at the 10:24 mark. The Lions remained in front by double digits the rest of the way.

The Geoducks will take on Warner Pacific University in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, Feb. 8. Tipoff is set for 5:00 p.m. PST.
