OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Evergreen State College men's wrestling team received outstanding performances from
Horacio Godinez in 2025-26 as he led the Geoducks throughout the season. It was the third year of men's wrestling at Evergreen after the program was added for the 2023-24 season.
Godinez became Evergreen's first All-American in men's wrestling this season after earning eighth place in the 141-pound weight class at the 2026 NAIA Men's Wrestling Championships. He finished the year with a 37-7 overall record. He took second place in his weight class at the 2026 Cascade Collegiate Conference Championships.
At the NAIA Championships, Godinez highlighted his appearance by earning a 16-1 win by technical fall in the third consolation round against #6-seeded Jared Dinh from Cumberland University (Tenn.) and adding a 9-5 win in the next round versus #1-seeded Adrian Ayala. Godinez went 4-3 during the tournament, with two of the three losses to #3-seeded Sammy Shires from Cumberland (Tenn.), in the second round of the championship bracket and in the seventh place match.
Godinez holds the Evergreen record for career victories. He owns a 61-14 record (.813) in two seasons with the Geoducks.
Even with one competitor at the NAIA Championships, Evergreen placed 33rd out of 63 teams in the tournament. Godinez scored a total of 10.5 points in the team standings.
It was a strong season for Godinez at tournaments. In addition to placing eighth at the NAIA Championships, he took first place at three tournaments, placed second twice (including the CCC Championships), and claimed third place twice.
The Geoducks went 2-2 in dual matches during the season. Evergreen defeated the University of Idaho 29-18 and downed Linfield University 33-24 but lost to Arizona Christian University and Corban University.
Cole Torres (Fr.) earned second place in the 184-pound weight class at the Evergreen Open on Jan. 18, 2026. Godinez completed the tournament in third place at 141 pounds.

Savion Galloway (So.) at 285 pounds and
Hassan Abdi (Jr.) at 157 pounds advanced into the quarterfinals at the Mountaineer Open, hosted by Eastern Oregon University on Nov. 2.
Ronnell Parker-Borrero, one of Evergreen's top competitors, missed the season due to an injury.
A total of nine Geoducks competed at the CCC Championships. In addition to Godinez at 141 pounds, other Evergreen wrestlers at the CCC meet were

Gerardo Hernandez (Fr.) at 141 pounds,
Alex Fenwick (Fr.) at 149 pounds,
Orion Rhinehart (So.) at 149 pounds, Abdi at 157 pounds,
Jayms Vilona (Fr.) at 157 pounds,
Andrew Walker Campbell (Fr.) at 174 pounds, and Galloway at 285 pounds.
Evergreen received votes in the NAIA Men's Wrestling Top 25 Poll throughout the season but didn't' break into the Top 25. Godinez was ranked #25 in the final rankings for the season in the 141-pound weight class. The final rankings were released at the end of the regular season.
