The Evergreen State College Athletics

Schedule

Cory Jenkins

Cory Jenkins enters his first year as an assistant cross Country and track & field coach for the Geoducks. Jenkins will assist in coaching the distance runners, with an emphasis on the marathon team as well as development.

No stranger to distance running, Jenkins started running for Evergreen Head Coach Joel Pearson at Whatcom Community College, where he was the captain of the cross country and track & field programs. While with the Whatcom Orcas, Jenkins dropped his times from 18:06 (5k) to 15:01 (5k), set five school records, and placed sixth at the NWAC Cross Country Championships, while earning his first All-America honor.

After college, Jenkins won three marathons: Birch Bay International Marathon, Skagit Flats Marathon, Green River Marathon, and several half-marathons, including The Evergreen State College Geoduck Gallop. Jenkins received his first USA national medal at the USA 50k National Championships in New York, where he placed sixth, and continued that success with a ninth place finish at the USA 15k Trail National Championships and a fourth place finish at the USA Half-Marathon Trail National Championships. Jenkins received his USA Track & Field Level 1 Coaching Certification in 2021.

Working in the medical field as a Cardiac Sonographer, Jenkins is passionate about cardiovascular health and helping patients in their cardiac care. In his free time, he enjoys hiking around the Pacific Northwest, paddle boarding, snowboarding, traveling, and spending time with his friends and family.

The Lynden High School, Whatcom C.C., and 2012 Western Washington University graduate (Kinesiology, focus on Movement Studies), holds personal bests of 15:01 for 5k, 1:10:24  for a half-marathon, 2:33:57 for a marathon, and 3:15:51 for 50k. Jenkins still trains recreationally and hopes to complete all six of the marathon majors.
