Curtis Gessner

  • Title
    Track and Field Assistant Coach
Gessner is a recent graduate of Evergreen, who began as an assistant coach in July 2019. He is an avid multi discipline cyclist and runner, he enjoys anything on a road/track bike, and running on all surfaces from trails to track.

He has been running on a competitive basis since relocating to Olympia in 2016. Since graduating in 2018, he has ran races at distances from 5K to 50K, completed numerous century rides, and generally enjoys pushing limits, self imposed or otherwise, an ethos that flows into track coaching, encouraging others to explore their own limitations.

His running highlights include winning the Birch Bay Marathon (2018),  Turn Back the Clock Half Marathon (2018), Point Defiance 50K (2018), the Tacoma City 50K (2019), and a 3rd place finish at the Capitol City Marathon (2019). Of note is the gap between Tacoma City 50K and Capitol City Marathon, podium finishing in two marathon plus distance races within two weeks. He has qualified for Boston over multiple qualifying finishes. He is still considered All City in cross country in Philadelphia.

Gessner attended Evergreen to complete a second Bachelor’s degree and is currently enrolled in a Master’s program. Ask him about academics, or pointedly ask about sciences.
