CALDWELL, Idaho - Evergreen battled host College of Idaho to the final horn on Sunday afternoon before coming out on the short end of a 1-0 score in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's soccer action at Simplot Stadium.
For the Geoducks (3-14-0 overall, 2-9-0 CCC) the season comes to a close, while the Coyotes (10-4-2, 7-4-1) advance to the conference postseason tournament scheduled for Nov. 7, 8 and 10 in Springfield, Ore.
Evergreen went without a shot in the opening 45 minutes but also kept the Coyotes, who had eight attempts, off of the scoreboard. Goalkeeper
Megan Breckenridge was a big part of that with four saves, including several of the spectacular variety.
College of Idaho finally broke through against the Geoducks at the 51:53 mark when Alexa Rierson took a cross from Lexie Hibler in the box and flicked it just out of Breckenridge's reach and into the far left side of the goal.
Breckenridge was called on to make three saves in the second half, including tipping a long-range effort off of the crossbar and out of play.
The Geoducks finished with three shots, two of which
Madison Early put on target. Both of those were long attempts that C of I keeper Shae Waters handled without trouble.
Final stats showed College of Idaho with a 17-3 advantage in shots and a 6-0 margin in corner kicks.
