ASHLAND, Ore. -
Anna Cook tallied 19 points, seven rebounds and four assists and
Alexcis Higginbotham had 16 points and six boards but it wasn't nearly enough to prevent host Southern Oregon from running away to an 84-65 Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball victory on Saturday night.
Southern Oregon sophomore Syd Fryer exploded for 26 points and 10 rebounds in leading the No. 18-ranked Raiders (7-3 overall, 3-1 CCC) to the victory inside Lithia Motors Pavilion.
Fryer shot 11-of-16 to surpass her previous career-high of 12 points, and Raiders junior point guard Daranda Hinkey knocked down four 3-pointers on her way to 20 points and six assists.
Southern Oregon led from start to finish, going up 21-6 nine minutes into the game and cruising the rest of the way.
Cook helped the Geoducks (0-8, 0-4) shoot 44.4 percent from the field (24-for-54), which was better than Southern Oregon's 40.7 percent, but the Raiders made 35 field goals while getting off 86 shots. The Raiders had 17 offensive rebounds among their 46 total and they turned the ball over just eight times compared to 29 for Evergreen.
Joining Cook and Higginbotham in double-figure scoring for the Geoducks was
Angela Sikora with 14 points, including 4-for-10 accuracy from three-point range.
The Geoducks return to conference action on Tuesday night when they play at Northwest University in Kirkland, and their next home game is against Northwest Christian on Saturday, Dec. 29, with tipoff inside Costantino Recreation Center scheduled for 5:30 p.m.
