Eagles Pull Away in Fourth Quarter, Beat Evergreen

Box Score KIRKLAND - Northwest University shot 11-for-14 from the floor in the final quarter Wednesday night to pull away and beat Evergreen, 83-70, in Cascade Collegiate Conference women's basketball action inside NU Pavilion.

The Eagles (4-11 overall, 1-4 CCC) led 57-53 entering the final period and then used excellent field goal accuracy to prevent the Geoducks (0-9, 0-5) from coming back.

Evergreen led by as many as four points in the early going, but Northwest took the lead midway through the first period and stayed on top the rest of the way.

Anna Cook recorded Evergreen's first double-double of the season with 20 points and 12 rebounds, and Alexcis Higginbotham added 20 points for the Geoducks. Cook was 7-for-12 from the field and 5-for-5 from the free throw line in scoring her 20 points. Deidra Miller added 12 points for the Geoducks, who shot 38.1 percent overall but just 17.6 percent (3-for-17) from beyond the three-point line.

Evergreen didn't have an answer for Northwest U center Miranda Langenhorst, who finished with 19 points on 9-for-11 shooting to go along with a game-high 14 rebounds. Alyx Fast hit four three-point shots on the way to 15 points for the Eagles.

The Geoducks return to action at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 29, when Northwest Christian visits Costantino Recreation Center.
