Tyrus Hosley scored 22 of his game-high 25 points in the first half Saturday night to lead visiting Northwest Christian to a 108-71 victory over Evergreen in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's basketball action inside Costantino Recreation Center.
The Beacons (11-3 overall, 3-1 CCC) shot 56.8 percent overall and knocked down a dozen three-point shots, including a 6-for-7 effort from Hosley, in cruising past the Geoducks (4-10, 0-6).
Malik Redmond and
Elijah Fuller both scored 11 points and
Desmond Hudson and
Mana Niu both tallied 10 for Evergreen.
The Geoducks led by as many as six points on three occasions in the opening half, the last time at 21-15 on a
Raven Frazier layup with 12:47 on the clock. Hosley single-handedly turned the tide, knocking down a trio of three-point shots over the next minute to put the Beacons on top, 24-23, and they maintained the lead the rest of the way.
Northwest Christian led 56-36 at the half and took its largest lead at 44 points, 106-62, on a pair of Riley Anderson free throws with 1:42 to play.
Joining Hosley in double figures for the Beacons were Davonte Cleveland with 15 points, Ernest Ugoagu with 14 and Zach Sly with 13. Both Cleveland and Sly collected a trio of three-point baskets.
The Geoducks shot just 35.8 percent (24-for-67) overall and turned the ball over 26 times against NCU's game-long full-court pressure, but did enjoy a 46-36 advantage in rebounding, led by Niu with eight.
Both teams return to conference action tomorrow night, Evergreen hosting Corban and Northwest Christian playing at Northwest University in Kirkland.
