The Evergreen State College women's basketball team fell to Division III member Puget Sound 72-58 Wednesday night in Tacoma.
Evergreen was led by Jerri Maluyo, Trinity Betoney and Anna Cook, who all recorded 14 points. Betoney led on the rebounds with eight and recorded a school record 11 steals. She broke the old record of 10 set by Sammi Clark in 2011.
Puget Sound was led by Cassidy Daugherty, who had 14 points and Jamie Lange led on the rebounds with 11.
The Geoducks recorded 20 points in the paint and shot 36.4 percent from the floor. UPS recorded 22 points in the paint and had 27 bench points. The Loggers shot 43.1 percent from the floor.
Evergreen is back in action on the road to continue with Cascade Collegiate Conference play visiting Northwest Christian on Friday, Dec. 20 and Corban on Saturday, Dec. 21. Both games played at 5:30 p.m. The Geoducks will then have a break for the holidays and see Walla Walla at home on Jan. 3-4.
