Corban Defeats Men’s Basketball To Close Out 2019 Year

SALEM, Ore. – The Evergreen State College men's basketball team fell to Corban 93-53 on Saturday to close out the 2019 year.

Corban scored the first two points of the game, but Evergreen came back to tie the game with a layup by Raven Frazier. The Warriors then went on a 12-0 run to take the 14-2 lead. The run was ended by a layup from Mitch Wetmore, but Corban never looked back and took the win.

Evergreen was led by Frazier and Danny Nelson, who both recorded 10 points. Elijah Fuller led on the rebounds with five.

The Warriors were led by Jake Estep, who had 13 points, Dominique Lawrence had 12 points, Beau Roggenbach added 11 points and both Mauricio Smith and Denis Kirichenko had 10 points. Roggenbach led on the rebounds with nine and only played 17 minutes.

Evergreen shot 32.8 percent from the floor to Corban's 47.2 percent. The Warriors had 53 bench points and 40 points in the paint.

The Geoducks will be back in action in the New Year against Walla Walla on Jan. 3rd and 4th. Evergreen will play at 2 p.m. on Friday and 8:30 p.m. on Saturday.
