PORTLAND, Ore. - Evergreen came close to its first women's basketball win of the season on Friday night but poor shooting in the fourth period proved its undoing in a 60-54 Cascade Collegiate Conference defeat to the host Multnomah Lions.
The Geoducks (0-21 overall, 0-17 CCC) turned a 28-28 halftime tie into a narrow 45-44 lead entering the final 10-minute quarter, but shot just 3-for-13 and saw the Lions rally for the victory.
Angela Sikora knocked down five three-point field goals on the way to a team-high 18 points for the Geoducks, who also got 14 points from
Alexcis Higginbotham and nine rebounds from
Merrily Jones.
Alaygza Portis scored 18 points and 6-6 junior center Erykah Campbell added 14 points, 12 rebounds and three blocked shots for the Lions (11-16, 7-12), who won the rebound battle, 49-39.
Evergreen plays its final conference game at Warner Pacific tomorrow night, and then will make up a pair of games against Walla Walla in College Place next Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 22 and 23.Â
A release from the conference office stated that because the conference regular season will have been completed and the postseason tournament started, the two games between Evergreen and Walla Walla will be considered non-conference.
