CORVALLIS, Ore. – The Evergreen State College men's soccer team has been selected as the "Under Armour Team of the Week" for Oct. 3-10 the Cascade Collegiate Conference announced Sunday.
"It is really cool to see this group get this recognition," said head coach
John Purtteman. "The guys have been really strong and resilient after missing all of last season. They have been great at accepting challenges and continue to work for each other every day."
Needing wins on the road to remain in the hunt for a post season playoff berth, The Geoducks, under the leadership of veteran coach
John Purtteman did just that winning at Bushnell University and at (RV) Corban University.
Against the Beacons, four different players scored in the 7-0 triumph. Corban, coming into the match receiving votes in the latest NAIA poll, were dealt only their second loss in CCC action.
Maxton Hauser scored in the 11
th minute to propel the Geoducks past the Warriors;
Colin Hauser made five saves to grab the shutout.
Evergreen (3-6-2, 3-3-2 CCC) will look to keep the momentum going as they will host Multnomah University and Warner Pacific University Oct.15-16.
