Men’s Soccer Falls To Yotes 2-0

OLYMPIA, Wash. – College of Idaho recorded two goals in the second half to defeat The Evergreen State College men's soccer team 2-0 Friday afternoon at Black Hills High School.

Evergreen recorded nine shots for the match with two from Joe DiCarlo, Gavin McLeroy and Lucas Alcala.

The Geoducks had a couple of chances to get on the scoreboard the first in the 73rd minute, Alcala had a shot that just went right off the post and in the 74th minute, Alex Young hit a nice shot right at the net but the goalkeeper was right there for the save.

"The guys played hard and pushed for 90 minutes against a good COI team," said head coach John Purtteman. "We were forced into defending for long stretches but created some dangerous chances on the counter. Looking forward to closing on a high note tomorrow against Eastern Oregon."

The Yotes scored their first goal in the 68th minute when Caia Pereira sent the ball across to Emil Powles who hit the far side of the goal into the net. COI scored again in the 83rd minute when J.J Osuna followed up on his own shot and hit the back of the net with that second shot.

Colin Hauser was back in the net for Evergreen and recorded 16 saves.

Evergreen is back in action tomorrow on the Geoduck Pitch to see Eastern Oregon at 12:30 p.m. The Geoducks will celebrate their seniors before the match.
