KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Evergreen State College women's basketball team fell 84-55 in the season opener to University of Providence Friday night at the 5th Annual Northwest Classic.
Evergreen was led by
Monique Bungay, who had 14 points,
Sha'nece Garrett recorded 10 points and
Trinity Betoney added 11 points.
Caitlin Yenne led on the rebounds with six.
University of Providence was led by Reed Hazard, who recorded 23 points, Emilee Maldonado added 14 points and Parker Esary had 15 points. Maldonado led on the rebounds with nine.
The Geoducks shot 31.6 percent from the floor and recorded 10 steals off Providence's 17 turnovers. The Argo shot 50.8 percent from the floor.
Evergreen is back in action tomorrow at 5 p.m. to see Montana State University-Northern in Kirkland, Wash., to close out the 5th Annual Northwest Classic.
