OLYMPIA, Wash. – Visiting LC State shot 50% from the field in the second half to go along with a game-deciding 14-0 run to overcome a seven-point deficit en route to an 83-73 win over host Evergreen State on Friday.
LC (15-5, 8-4 CCC) scored nine of the first 13 points of the second half to set the state for the comeback win. Down 48-41, three-straight layups and a 3-pointer by Khalil Stevenson put the visiting Warriors ahead for the first time in the contest.
Evergreen State (2-14, 2-10 CCC) came out of the gates with an early 12-2 lead on the visitors. The Geoducks would stretch the lead to as much as 10 on six occasions in the contest.
Mitch Wetmore led TESC with a team-high 23 points on 8-for-15 shooting from the field to go along with a 3-for-6 performance from beyond the 3-point line. He was joined in double figures by
Austin Curry and
Lane Kennedy, who added 18 and 11 points, respectively. Curry also had a team-high 10 rebounds for his fifth double double effort on the season.
The Warriors were led by Stevenson, who had a game-high 28 points including four 3-pointers. He was joined in double figures by Oreson Courtney, who added 17 points.
Next, the Geoducks are back in action against Walla Walla University on Saturday at 8:30 p.m. at the Costantino Recreation Center.
