MONMOUTH, Ore. – A last-second 3-pointer attempt by
Sha'nece Garrett came up short as host Southern Oregon scored five of the final seven points en route to a 49-46 win over The Evergreen State College women's basketball team on Saturday.
Garrett finished the game with 23 points and
Trinity Betoney added 14 as the Geoducks fall to 5-13 overall and 4-11 in the CCC.
The Raiders were led by a 14-point effort from Dominique Harding, who went 6-for-13 from the field as SOU improves to 19-4 overall and 12-3 in the CCC.
Down two, 18-16, after the first quarter, Evergreen held SOU without a point in the second quarter. The Geoducks built a six-point advantage, 24-18, at halftime with an eight-point effort. After Betoney put TESC ahead by eight, 26-18, the Raiders came back with six straight to make it a two-point contest, 26-24.
A Harding jumper at the end of the quarter tied the game at 38 and for the first time since the two teams were deadlocked at 16 with 2:08 left in the opening quarter. The two teams would go on to be tied on three more occasions until a three-point swing by SOU, 47-44, would put the Raiders ahead for the remainder of the contest.
Next, the Geoducks are home for its next three games as they host Northwest University on Tuesday, Feb. 1 at 5:30 p.m. at the Costantino Recreation Center.
