CALDWELL, Idaho - A late run in the first half and another blitz to begin the second half was enough to push first-place College of Idaho past visiting Evergreen State on Saturday night at the J.A. Albertson Center, 90-47.
The Yotes maintained their lead in the Cascade Collegiate Conference, improving to 18-2 in league play and they are now 24-4 overall. It was their sixth straight win.
The Geoducks dropped their seventh in a row to fall to 3-21 on the year and to 3-17 in the CCC.
The visitors trailed by just five points (35-30) with two minutes to go in the first half, thanks in part to the long bomb marksmanship of
LaBrandon Price. The 6-3 grad senior guard drained four treys in the opening half and had 18 points at the break.
But the 'Yotes knocked down two treys of their own right before the end of the half to take a 41-30 lead into the locker room. They then started the second half on a 14-2 blitz through the first 5:45 of play and cruised from there. They would go on to outscore the Geoducks 49-17 after intermission.
Price led the Geoducks with 22 points and was the only TESC player in double figures. The 'Yotes controlled the boards (54-26) and drained 11 three-pointers. Ricardo Time paced four COI players in double figures with 21 points.
Evergreen State will wrap up the regular season at home next Friday and Saturday, hosting Corban and Bushnell.
