Betoney's 28 Points Help Lead Geoducks Women's Basketball Past Warriors

OLYMPIA, Wash.--Trinity Betoney knocked down a season-high 28 points and Sha`nece Garrett added 13 as host Evergreen State cruised past Corban on Friday night at the Costantino Recreation Center, 67-51.
It was a solid win for the Geoducks, who trailed only once in this contest, early in the first quarter. They improved to 9-15 overall with the victory and to 7-13 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Corban fell to 5-23 on the year and to 4-17 in the CCC.
The Geoducks will close out the regular season on Saturday afternoon at home against Bushnell. Start time is 3 pm.
The home team outscored the Warriors 21-7 in the second quarter, after holding a 18-14 lead at the end of the first quarter. That gave the Geoducks a 38-21 lead at the break, and Corban wouldn't get any closer than 12 points the rest of the way.
Betoney nailed 11 of 17 shots on the way to her season best, including two of five from three-point range. She also had three steals in the game. It wasn't quite a career best for the guard from Henderson, Nev., who hit for 33 twice during the 2019-20 season.
In addition to Garrett's 13 points, Jalyn Sackrider had a near double-double with eight points and 12 boards. The Geoducks outscored the Warriors in the paint (36-16) and forced Corban into 20 turnovers.
In the only meeting between the two teams this season, Holly Golenor led Corban with 19 points and six rebounds. Corban will put a wrap on its regular season tomorrow at Northwest at 3 pm.
