OLYMPIA, Wash. – Evergreen hosted Northwest University for a rescheduled match from last week. The Geoducks fought hard but were bested in four sets, 3-1, (25-21, 24-26, 25-18, 25-17).
Andee Nelson led the charge for Evergreen (3-17, 3-13) with nine kills, nine digs and two aces.
The two teams fought hard in the opening points of the first set until Northwest (14-7, 11-5) used a 5-0 run to go up 14-9. The Geoduck responded with a 5-1 run to cut their deficit to 16-14. NU held on to their lead and took the first set, 25-21.
The Eagles jumped out to a 9-5 lead early in the second set and held it throughout most of the set. Facing a 20-14 deficit late in the second set, Evergreen found their footing and went on an impressive 12-4 run to steal the second set from Northwest.
NU showed great composure after dropping the set and went on to win the third set 25-18 and the final set 25-17, in convincing fashion.
Yasmin Dilworth had an impressive night with eight kills and three blocks.
Marin Collins was a force at the net with an impressive eight blocks to match her eight kills.
