OLYMPIA, Wash. – The Evergreen State volleyball team put on a dominant performance, defeating Walla Walla in straight sets, 3-0 (25-18, 25-21, 25-11).
The Geoducks (3-14, 3-10 CCC) were locked in defensively, as they held WWU (1-14, 1-13 CCC) to a .010 hitting percentage.
The first set was competitive all the way until the final stretch when Evergreen used a 10-3 that ended with five consecutive points to close out the set 25-18.
The Geoducks took the early lead in the first set and held it until the Wolves used a 4-0 run to take the lead 16-15. The set looked to be heading towards Walla Walla until TESC rallied back to close out the set with an 8-2 run, 25-21.
With all the momentum in their favor, Evergreen made quick work of the third set, 25-11 on their way to a straight set win.
Jadyn Kallenberger led the offense for TESC with 12 kills and three aces to go along with 12 digs.
Evergreen shined from the service line with 12 aces in the match led by
Jessica Mitchell with five. Mitchell also led the team in assists with 18.
Rylee Grams led the match in digs with 15 to go along with a pair of aces.
Head coach Carissa Bounds reflected on the win with, "The girls really needed this win, they came together and played like I know they can. We are going to take this win and keep building and growing off it"
The Geoducks next match will be on the road against Easter Oregon on October 13
