Evergreen Welcomes "The Glove" and the Oaklanders

OLYMPIA, Wash. – Evergreen opened the 2023-24 men's basketball season by hosting NBA-Legend-turned-head-coach Gary Payton and the Lincoln University Oaklanders. The Oaklanders defeated the Geoducks 76-54.
 
Head coach Gary Payton relied on his defense as turnovers were the deciding factor for the matchup as the Oaklanders led the turnover margin 13-20 and capitalized with 28 points off turnovers.
 
Mubarak Michael led the scoring for Evergreen with 12 points.
 
Despite the loss, the Geoducks showed great potential and are optimistic about the season and their progress so far.
 
The Geoducks next contest will be on the road as they head up I-5 to face off against Pacific Lutheran on November 8th at 7 PM. More information available at gogeoducks.com.
