SALEM, Ore. – The Geoducks women's soccer team continued their out of conference schedule with a road contest against the Willamette University Bearcats. Evergreen (0-2) was held scoreless and defeated 2-0 by the Bearcats (0-0).
The Geoducks struggled to find their footing offensively with only six shots in the match and zero shots on goal.
Willamette struck first and scored in the 38
th minute of play with a cross that slipped by Evergreen goalkeeper
Anna Varela's hands and found Bearcats forward Ella McComas for the first goal of the contest on only the second shot on goal attempted in the first half. Evergreen ended the half down 1-0.
In the second half the Geoducks put together a few quality opportunities to respond and tie the match but could not capitalize on them. The Bearcats scored their second goal in the 75
th minute with a cross that deflected off goalkeeper
Amity Brookshire and found McComas again for her second goal of the match. This second goal was the nail in the coffin for Evergreen and they left Sparks Field with a 2-0 defeat.
