OLYMPIA, Wash. – Fresh off their win, The Evergreen State men's soccer team hosted Warner Pacific and lost to the Knights 2-0.
TESC's (3-5-1, 2-2-1) defense did their best to contain Warner Pacific (6-3-1, 3-2-1) but was outshot 15-8 by the Knights in the loss.
WPU came out on the attack and after recording two shots in the opening minutes, Gabriel Rincon was in heavy traffic but still managed to get a shot off and put Warner Pacific on the board first with a goal in the 9
th minute of the match.
The Geoducks had their chances to score the equalizer as
Adrian Fong and
Andreas Malunat both recorded quality shots on goal that were saved by the Knights' keeper. TESC went into the half down 1-0.
After the break, Evergreen's offense dug in their heels and managed to put together a few more quality scoring opportunities on the counterattack but none of them resulted in a goal. In the 80
th minute WPU scored an insurance goal to put them up 2-0 late in the match. The score held up after this and TESC was defeated 2-0.
