Eagles Best Evergreen in Straight Sets

KIRKLAND, Wash. – The Evergreen State women's volleyball team were defeated 3-0 in straight sets (25-13, 25-17, 25-23) by the Northwest University Eagles.
 
The Geoducks (1-5, 1-1) continued their conference campaign with a road matchup against NU (5-2, 2-0).
 
In the first set, the Eagles rattled of the first five points of the match before Rylee Grams set up Jessica Mitchell for the first point of the game for TESC. NU went on to win the first set 25-13.
 
Sophia Scroggins scored the first point of the set, followed by an ace from Jessica Mitchell to put Evergreen up 2-0. The Geoducks kept it close through the middle of the set but Northwest ran away with the set late to win the second set 25-17.
 
In the third set, NU score the opening point and Evergreen responded with three unanswered points to take the lead. Throughout the set the Eagles would take the lead and TESC responded with small runs to tie it back up until the Geoducks took the lead 16-15 to force a timeout from Northwest.
 
After the timeout, Evergreen kept the momentum and used a 5-2 run to extend their lead to 23-20 and force another timeout from the Eagles. More information available at gogeoducks.com.
 
This timeout was critical for NU, as they finished the match with a 5-0 run to close out the set 23-25 and the match 3-0.
 
Jadyn Kallenberger led the team in kills with 10.
 
Scroggins and Marin Collins both recorded three blocks a piece.  
 
Nizhoni Tallman (8), Rylee Grams (8) and Jessica Mitchell (7) were the team leaders in digs.
 
Mitchell recorded 17 assists in the contest.
 
Evergreen will continue their string of road game with their next match against Bushell on September 8th at 7 PM.
