Geoducks Thunder Past Knights in Dramatic Contest

OLYMPIA, Wash. - In a hard-fought battle on a frigid Saturday afternoon, the Evergreen State College Women's Basketball team secured a triumphant victory against the Warner Pacific Knights with a final score of 57 - 52. The Geoducks displayed resilience and teamwork under the guidance of Head Coach Jackie Robinson to claim the well-deserved win.

The game kicked off with a competitive first quarter, where the Geoducks established an early lead by scoring 16 points, narrowly surpassing the Knights' 14 points. Despite Warner Pacific's efforts to close the gap in the following quarters, Evergreen maintained their composure and responded with strategic plays.

In the second quarter, the Knights made some ground, scoring 14 points compared to the Geoducks' 13 points. The close game continued into the third quarter, where Warner Pacific scored 15 points, and Evergreen posted 10 points. The Geoducks faced a resilient opponent, but they rose to the occasion and kept the game within reach.

The turning point came in the final quarter, where Evergreen showcased their determination and offensive skill. The Geoducks surged ahead, scoring two points for every point the Knights managed to post, 18 for Evergreen and only 9 for Warner Pacific. The strong finish solidified Evergreen's victory and highlighted their ability to perform under pressure.

Two standout performances contributed significantly to the Geoducks' success. Sydney Vanness delivered an outstanding performance, making 8 out of her 15 attempted field goals and sinking 4 out of 10 attempted three-pointers. Vanness's exceptional showing resulted in a total of 25 points during her impressive 31 minutes on the court.

Jalyn Sackrider also stood out with an exceptional performance, scoring 11 points during her 31 minutes of play. Sackrider's contributions on both ends of the court added to the overall success of the Geoducks.

The entire team is responsible for this accomplishment against such a competitive opponent. As Evergreen celebrates this victory, fans and supporters can look forward to more exciting moments from the Women's Basketball team under the leadership of Head Coach Jackie Robinson! The Geoducks' teamwork and resilience bode well for their continued success in the season ahead. I hope you'll join me in following their journey throughout the season at: www.gogeoducks.com.
