LA GRANDE, Ore. - The Evergreen State College Women's Basketball team faced a challenging game against Eastern Oregon University, concluding the event with a final score of
47 - 68. Despite a competitive start in the first quarter, the Geoducks encountered setbacks in subsequent periods, leading to the Mounties securing the victory.
The opening quarter saw a close exchange, with Evergreen managing to edge ahead with 17 points against Eastern Oregon's 16. However, the momentum shifted in the second quarter, as EOU responded with 13 points, outscoring the Geoducks, who tallied 10. The third proved to be a challenging stretch for Evergreen, as Eastern Oregon surged ahead with an impressive 22 points, while the Geoducks posted 8. The Mounties' strong performance during this period created a significant point differential. In the final quarter, Eastern Oregon continued their scoring prowess, notching 17 points compared to Evergreen's 12, ultimately securing the win on their home court.
Despite the team setback, individual players displayed noteworthy performances.
Thuyvi Tran showcased her scoring abilities with 12 points, making 5 successful field goals out of 10 attempts and sinking 2 three-pointers from 5 attempts.
Jalyn Sackrider contributed 10 points, making 5 field goals out of 14 attempts.
The Geoducks will regroup and refocus as they prepare for their upcoming game against The College of Idaho on Saturday.
