Juarez Scores Two Goals, Two Assists in 8-0 Win over Wolves

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Kolby Juarez (So., M) of The Evergreen State College scored two goals and two assists as the Geoducks defeated Walla Walla University, 8-0, at Geoduck Pitch on Sunday, Oct. 20. Juan Mendez (Jr., M) and Sage Scheuerell (Jr., M) each scored two goals plus an assist, while Emmanuel Nicasio (Sr., M) produced one goal and two assists.

Evergreen improved to 3-8-1 on the season, 3-5-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Walla Walla slipped to 1-8-0 overall, 1-8-0 in the CCC.

Juarez put in the first two goals for the Geoducks at 6:13 and 22:15. On the opening goal, he shot from eight yards under the charging goalkeeper after receiving a pass from Nicasio. The second goal was scored after Juarez beat the goalie and shot from 10 yards following a pass from Scheuerell.

The Geoducks doubled their lead to 4-0 before halftime. At 26:32, Mendez scored with an assist from Juarez. Just over four minutes later, Nicasio hit the net with a 6-yard shot that was set up by a pass form Juarez. 

Scheuerell tacked on the first two goals of the second half at 63:53 and 68:35 for a 6-0 lead. His second goal was on a counter-attack after the goalie saved his first shot. Mendez added a goal at 75:33 with a 6-yard shot to the lower right corner of the goal. He was assisted by Nicasio and Alejandro Gallegos (Jr., D). The game's final goal was earned by Kevin Jimenez (So., F) from 12 yards following a pass from Mendez.

Evergreen goalkeeper Brendan Gribek (Sr.) contributed five saves while recording the shutout. Goalie Kylan LeGault of Walla Walla made five saves for the Wolves.

The Geoducks created a 22-10 advantage in total shots, including a 14-5 margin in shots on target. Evergreen held a 14-3 shooting advantage in the first half. 

Evergreen will take on the University of Providence on Friday, Oct. 25 in Great Falls, Montana. Game time is scheduled for 3:30 p.m. MDT.
