Early Goals Send Carroll to 3-0 Win over Geoducks

HELENA, Mont. -- Two early goals propelled Carroll College to a 3-0 win over The Evergreen State College in Cascade Collegiate Conference men's soccer on Saturday, Oct. 26. Carroll upped its record to 11-2-3, including 10-1-1 in the CCC. The Fighting Saints hold first place in the conference with 31 points in the standings.

Alfie Snow earned a goal for Carroll 5:44 into the contest. He was assisted on the play by Caleb Hoxie. Justus Herrmann tacked on a goal at 12:30. Sean Balen and Sam Loughton provided assists. After building a 2-0 lead, the Fighting Saints were kept off the scoreboard for the rest of the first half. 

Carroll added a goal at 50:30 to complete the scoring. Felix Billard recorded the goal with an assist from Michal Mojzis.

The Saints held a 20-8 margin in total shots, but both teams placed five shots on target. Emmanuel Nicasio (Sr, M) and Juan Mendez (Jr., M) each led Evergreen with two total shots. Nicasio and Mendez also were two of five Geoducks with a shot on goal. Billard topped all players with six total shots. Carroll accumulated a 10-1 edge in corner kicks.

Juan Muniz Navarette, the goalie for Carroll, kept Evergreen off the scoreboard with five saves. Two of Navarette's saves were in the first eight minutes of the game on shots by Kainoa Wong (Sr., F) and Jonas Olvera Calderon (Jr., D). Brendan Gribek (Sr, GK) registered two saves for the Geoducks.

Evergreen ended the match at 3-10-1 overall and 3-7-1 in the CCC. The Geoducks are scheduled to host Oregon Tech in a CCC game on Friday, Nov. 1. Action is slated to begin at Geoduck Field in Salem, Oregon, at 3 p.m. PDT.
