Davis Grabs Nine Rebounds for Second Game in a Row

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Jamoi Davis (Jr., W) hauled down nine rebounds for the second consecutive game on his way to just missing a double-double, but the Geoducks of The Evergreen State College lost to visiting Multnomah at the Costantino Recreation Center 89-63 on Saturday, Dec. 21. The GeoducksĀ trailed by just six points at 41-35 with 15:24 remaining in the second half, but the Lions ended the game with a 48-28 run.

Multnomah advanced its record to 8-2 on the season, including 4-1 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference. Evergreen slipped to 1-7 overall, 1-4 in the CCC.

Davis scored 12 points to go with his nine boards. He also grabbed nine rebounds against Warner Pacific University on Friday. In Saturday's game, Bradley Graham (Jr., G) was Evergreen's top scorer with 17 points, including two 3-point baskets. Garret Long (Jr., G/W) tacked on nine points, while Jerry Boston Jr. (Sr., G/W) and Zach Jefferson (Jr., G) each provided the Geoducks with eight points. Long, Tyler No (So., G), and Nick Gutierrez (Sr., G) each supplied TESC with three assists.

The leading scorer for the Lions was Marje Winfield with 20 points on 7-for-13 shooting from the field and 6-for-12 accuracy on 3-pointers. AlilyonĀ Ford produced 17 points and five boards for the Lions, while Keilan TorkonooĀ scored 13 points. Kadeem Nelson recorded 11 points and four steals. Darius Mason-Robertson and Noah McCord each grabbed nine rebounds.

Multnomah held a 15-2 lead with 11:10 to play in the first half after Nelson sank a jump shot. Evergreen scored the next four points on layups by Davis and Guiterrez to pull within 15-6 at the 10:39 mark. The GeoducksĀ couldn't get closer until a pair of free throws by Long with 20 seconds left in the half cut Multnomah's lead to 34-26. Braedon Edison hit a 3-pointer for the Lions to give Multnomah a 37-26 edge at halftime.

The teams exchanged several baskets early in the second half, leaving Multnomah with a 41-30 advantage at the 16:41 mark. Evergreen added a jumper by Jefferson, a free throw by Boston Jr., and a fastbreak layup by Jefferson to move within 41-35.

A 6-2 run increased the margin to 47-37 with 13:57 left. Evergreen scored the next basket on a jumper by Long, but MultnomahĀ responded with a 17-4 run to claim a 64-43 lead with 10:15 on the clock.Ā 

Multnomah shot 42.5% on field goals (31 of 73) and made 10 of 30 attempts from 3-point range. The Geoducks converted 24 of 57 field goals (42.1%) but hit just 5 of 26 three-point shots (19.2%). The Lions outrebounded the Geoducks 47-34, including a 20-12 margin in offensive boards.

Evergreen will play again on Friday, Jan. 3 with a CCC game at Southern Oregon University. Game time in Ashland, Oregon, is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PST.
