OLYMPIA, Wash. - In a thrilling game against the Eastern Oregon University Mountaineers, The Evergreen State College women's basketball team showcased resilience and determination but fell short in overtime with a final score of
60 - 69. The Geoducks battled fiercely throughout the game, delivering impressive performances on the court.
The first quarter set the tone for a closely contested game, with Eastern Oregon scoring 12 points and Evergreen responding with 11. The Mountaineers gained a slight advantage in the second quarter, scoring 21 points while the Geoducks contributed 14. Entering the third quarter, Evergreen began to turn the tide, putting up 22 points compared to Eastern Oregon's 16. The Geoducks' strong offensive effort narrowed the gap and set the stage for a competitive finish. In the fourth quarter, both teams fought hard, with the Mountaineers scoring 11 points and the Geoducks contributing 13. The game remained tightly contested, forcing the teams into overtime. Unfortunately, Evergreen faced challenges in overtime, failing to score while Eastern Oregon added 9 points to secure the victory.
Despite the setback, standout performances from individual players highlighted the Geoducks' competitive spirit.
Jalyn Sackrider led the team with an impressive 23 points during her 35 minutes on the court, making 11 of 22 attempted field goals, including a successful three-point shot.
Jenna Glenzel also made significant contributions, scoring 17 points in their 42 minutes of play, connecting on 5 of 10 attempted field goals, and making 7 of 8 attempted free throws.
