Goal at the Buzzer Sends Pacific Past Evergreen 2-1

FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- A goal scored as time expired by Aidan Pierias of Pacific University sent the Boxers past The Evergreen State College Geoducks 2-1 in men's soccer on Saturday, Nov. 7. The winning goal was scored just minutes after Gabriel Delgado (Jr., F) tied the game for Evergreen.

Pacific improved to 2-1 on the season. Evergreen fell to 0-3.

The Boxers received a free kick with seven seconds left after a foul was called on Evergreen about 40 yards out and near the left sideline. The ball was sent into the penalty area, leading to a scramble for possession. Pierias scored on a tap-in with an assist from Garrett Heuett.

Neither team scored in the first 70 minutes. The Boxers claimed a 1-0 advantage at 71:47 on a goal by Noah Gosch on a penalty kick.

Delgado tied the score at 1-1 as the game reached the 85:07 mark. Alan Barragan (Sr., M) earned an assist on the play.

For the game, Pacific outshot Evergreen, 10-6, but both teams had four shots on target. Geoduck goalkeeper Brendan Gribek recorded two saves. Zach Aderinto made three saves for Pacific.

The Geoducks had several quality attacks in addition to the goal. Evergreen was called for four offside violations, while Pacific was ruled offside once. The Boxers gained a 3-1 edge in corner kicks.
