Geoducks are 10th in CCC Men's Wrestling Preseason Poll

OLYMPIA, Wash. -- The Evergreen State College was picked to finish in 10th place in the 2025-26 Cascade Collegiate Conference Men's Wrestling Preseason Poll released by the conference office. The Geoducks will open the regular season on Sunday, Nov. 2 at the Mountaineer Open, hosted by Eastern Oregon University in La Grande, Oregon.

Evergreen is entering its third season of men's wrestling. The Geoducks are the only four-year collegiate men's wrestling program in the State of Washington. 

Before the regular season begins, the Geoducks will hold an intrasquad scrimmage on Thursday, Oct. 23. The intrasquad scrimmage will begin at 5 p.m. PDT in the Costantino Recreation Center and will be open to the public.

Southern Oregon University was listed first in the CCC Men's Wrestling Preseason Poll with 111 total points and six of 11 first place votes. The Raiders won the 2025 CCC Men's Wrestling Tournament, presented by U.S. Bank, and took ninth place at the 2025 NAIA Men's Wrestling Championships. 

University of Providence (Mont.) followed closely behind SOU in the poll, as the Argos received 108 points and three first place votes for second place. Providence was fourth at the 2025 CCC Tournament and placed seventh at the NAIA Championships. 

This year's poll continued with Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (Ariz.) in third place with 95 points and one first place vote. The Eagles were third at the CCC Tournament this past spring and claimed sixth claimed sixth place at the NAIA Championships.

Fourth place in this year's poll was a tie between Corban University and Montana State University-Northern, each with 77 points. Arizona Christian University was seventh with 71 points and one first place vote. Eastern Oregon University held eighth place with 68 points, while Westcliff University (Calif.) and Simpson University (Calif.) tied for ninth at 39 points. Evergreen was 10th with 25 points, and Hope International University was 11th with 16 points.

Top returning players for Evergreen include Ronnell Parker-Borrero (So.) at 197 pounds and Horacio Godinez (So.) at 141 pounds. Both were ranked by Open Mat during the 2024-25 season. Parker-Borrero earned sixth place at the 2025 CCC Championships in the 184-pound weight class. Key newcomers for the Geoducks are Gerardo Hernandez (Fr.) at 133 pounds and Cole Torres (Fr.) at 184 pounds.
