Evergreen Ties Beacons 1-1 on Goal by Davis at 84:06

EUGENE, Ore. -- Cooper Davis (So., M) scored the game-tying goal with just under six minutes remaining, as The Evergreen State College finished in a 1-1 tie with Bushnell University in a Cascade Collegiate Conference game at Civic Park on Friday, Oct. 10. Danny Rojas scored Bushnell's goal midway through the second half after the team played a scoreless first 45 minutes.

Evergreen advanced its record to 1-7-1 overall, 1-4-1 in the CCC. Bushnell ended the game at 8-3-1 on the season, including 2-3-1 in the CCC.

The tying goal by Davis was earned while the Geoducks were competing with just 10 players following a red card issued to Kairos Joaquin (Jr., D) in the 75th minute. Davis scored at 84:06 after receiving the rebound of a shot by Alejandro Gallegos (Sr., D). The shot by Gallegos was saved by Bushnell goalkeeper William Haberfield, but Davis sent the follow shot into the net. Gallegos received an assist on the play.

Prior to Davis scoring, Bushnell held a 1-0 lead for about 17 minutes. Rojas tallied the Beacons' goal at 67:09 on an assist from Manuel Bleck da Silva.

Bushnell created two shots in the closing minutes. Jay Jay Van Der Velde shot at 87:56, but his attempt was blocked. Rojas took a shot at 88:37 that was saved by Evergreen goalie Tom Cole (Jr.). The Beacons had a final chance with about 20 seconds left following a free kick just inside the Geoducks' defensive 18-yard box, but Bushnell had a pass blocked. Evergreen gained control in the corner of the field and cleared the ball.

Cole accumulated eight saves for the Geoducks, while Haberfield earned three saves for the Beacons. Bushnell outshot Evergreen 21-9 overall and 9-4 in shots on goal.  Each team earned five corner kicks, including four by Bushnell and three by Evergreen in the second half.

Kolby Juarez (Jr., M) led the Geoducks with three total shots. Six other Evergreen players each recorded one shot. Caleb Premo topped the Beacons with five total shots, including four shots on goal. Rojas and Omar Barajas each took four shots.

Evergreen will play at Corban University on Saturday, Oct. 11. Kickoff in Salem, Oregon, is set for 7 p.m. PDT.
