SALEM, Ore. --
Alan Miranda (Sr., D) scored for the Geoducks with an assist from
Kolby Juarez (Jr., MF) as The Evergreen State College tied Corban University 1-1, in a Cascade Collegiate Conference game on Saturday, Oct. 11 at the Outdoor Athletic Complex. Both goals were scored in the second half, with Miranda giving Evergreen a 1-0 lead and the Warriors tying the score.
Evergreen ended the evening match-up with a 1-7-2 overall record and a 1-4-2 record in the CCC. The Warriors moved to 4-7-2 on the season, 2-3-2 in the CCC.
Miranda produced the game's opening goal when he hit the net with a shot at 60:58 for his first goal of the season. Juarez registered his second assist of the year and the sixth assist of his Evergreen career.
The Geoducks held a 1-0 advantage for just over 12 minutes. Santiago Castano tallied an unassisted goal at 73:05 to tie the game.
Evergreen soon had a chance to regain the lead when
Alejandro Gallegos (Sr., D) took a shot at 75:32 that was saved by Corban goalie Isaac Pureco. Miranda added a scoring attempt at 80:08 that went wide right, and also headed the ball wide left less than a minute later. The Geoducks had two more shots before the game ended, but couldn't create a game-winner. Evergreen outshot Corban 5-0 after Castano scored the tying goal.
Tom Cole (Jr., GK) was credited with four saves for Evergreen, while Pureco made two saves for the Warriors. Corban claimed a 10-9 lead in total shots and a 5-3 margin in shots on goal. The Warriors held a 5-0 advantage in corner kicks during the first half, while the Geoducks recorded a 3-2 edge in corners over the final 45 minutes.
Miranda led all players with four total shots. Juarez tacked on three more shots for the Geoducks. Castano and Alexander Guindy each provided three total shots for the Warriors.
Evergreen will take on Walla Walla University on Friday, Oct. 17 at 3 p.m. PDT. The game will be played at Geoduck Pitch on the Evergreen campus in Olympia, Washington.
