Eagles Score in 71st Minute to Edge Geoducks 1-0

KIRKLAND, Wash. -- Titus Bishop registered a goal for Northwest University at 70:35 and the Eagles went on to defeat The Evergreen State College 1-0 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action on Saturday, Oct. 25. Matthew Ludlow received an assist on the play. The Eagles finished with a narrow 11-9 lead in total shots and a 6-4 margin in shots on goal.

With the win, NU moved to 4-7-4 on the season, 1-6-3 in the CCC. Evergreen ended the game with a 1-10-2 overall record, 1-7-2 in the CCC.

The scoreless first half featured six shots by the Eagles and four shots by the Geoducks. Evergreen goalie Tom Cole (Jr.), who finished the game with five saves, earned all five saves in the first half. NU goalie Bailey Hopkins was credited with one save in the first half. He added three saves in the second half.

Evergreen and NU each took five shots in the second half, with the Geoducks holding a 3-1 edge in shots on target. The one shot on goal in the second half by NU was Bishop's effort that resulted in the game's only goal.

The Eagles were called for 18 fouls during the game, while Evergreen recorded nine fouls. There were 10 yellow cards issued during the game, including seven yellows given to the Eagles.

Jonas Olvera Calderon (Sr., D) and Kolby Jaurez (Jr., M) each took two shots for the Geoducks. Both shots by Olvera Calderon forced saves by Hopkins. Bishop, Ludlow, and Samuel Brendle each provided NU with two shots. Each of Ludlow's shots were stopped by Cole for the Geoducks.
