Glenzel and Harder Each Score 13 Points in Loss at Oregon Tech

KLAMATH FALLS, Ore. -- Jenna Glenzel (Sr., G) and Bayleigh Harder (Sr., F/C) each scored 13 points against Oregon Tech, but the Lady Owls defeated the Geoducks 73-32 in the Cascade Collegiate Conference opener for both teams on Friday, Dec. 5. Brooke Anderson topped the Owls with 14 points.

Glenzel scored 13 points by going 6 for 11 on field goals, including one 3-pointer. Glenzel also earned five rebounds and a team-high three steals. Harder registered 13 points while hitting two 3-pointers and making 5 of 6 free throws. Harder also provided Evergreen with a team-high eight rebounds to go along with two blocks and one assist. Amaya Afatasi (Jr., G)  earned six rebounds and two assists.

For Oregon Tech, Anderson hit 6 of 7 shots from the field, including 2 for 3 on 3-pointers. She led the Owls with four steals and hauled down four rebounds. Tatum Schmerbach scored 12 points and was credited with six rebounds and a game-high five assists. Kendal Fealey added 10 points, three rebounds, and three assists. Jozie Ramos led all players with 13 rebounds to go with eight points. Avery Andrew also scored eight points for the Owls. 

Oregon Tech, ranked #21 in the NAIA Women's Basketball Coaches' Top 25 Poll, improved to 5-4 on the season, 1-0 in the CCC. Evergreen fell to 0-2 overall, 0-1 in the CCC.

Harder scored the game's first two points at the free throw line with 9:05 left in the opening quarter. With 6:20 on the clock, Oregon Tech completed a 15-0 run that featured scoring by five players. Evergreen answered with a 9-0 run, as a 3-pointer by Harder pulled the Geoducks within 15-11 at the 2:45 mark. The Owls ended the period with a 6-0 run.

The Geoducks pulled within 25-17 on a 3-point basket from Harder with 5:59 remaining in the second quarter. Oregon Tech shut out Evergreen over the rest of the period to claim a 41-17 halftime lead.

In the first five minutes of the second half, Evergreen outscored the Owls 6-5 on four points by Glenzel and two points by Habiba Adam (Fr., G). The Geoducks were unable to get closer, as Oregon Tech gained a 17-10 scoring advantage during the third quarter.

Evergreen shot 25.0% on field goals (12 of 48) and made 3 of 21 on 3-pointers (14.3%). The Geoducks sank 5 of 6 free throws (83.3%). Oregon Tech connected on 30 of 74 field goals (40.5%), while hitting 4 of 11 from 3-point range (36.4%). The Owls were 9 for 17 (52.9%) at the free throw line.

The Geoducks will play at Southern Oregon University on Saturday, Dec. 6. Game time is scheduled for 3 p.m. PST.
