CALDWELL, Idaho -- College of Idaho, ranked #3 in the NAIA Men's Basketball Poll, defeated The Evergreen State College 97-46 on Friday, Feb. 21 in a Cascade Collegiate Conference game. Drew Wyman led the Yotes with 14 points, while
Bradley Graham (Jr., G) paced the Geoducks with 11 points.
The Yotes improved to 25-2 on the season with their 15th consecutive win. C of I advanced its record to 20-1 in the CCC. Evergreen slipped to 2-22 overall, 2-19 in the CCC.
In addition to providing double-digit scoring, Graham added three rebounds for the Geoducks.
Solomon Campbell (Jr., F) tacked on eight points, a team-high nine rebounds. He led all players on both teams with four blocked shots.
Jourdan Joseph (Sr., G) provided Evergreen with seven points, three assists, and one blocked shot. The Geoducks blocked eight shots overall.
Wyman scored his 14 points by hitting 6 of 9 field goal attempts, including 2 of 4 three-point shots. He also contributed eight rebounds. Johnny Radford supplied the Yotes with 13 points to go with three assists.
Three C of I players -- Alex Germer, Paul Wilson, and Dougie Peoples each scored 12 points. Wilson was 5 for 7 on field goals and grabbed six boards. Germer tied Wyman for the team lead with eight rebounds. Five Yotes hit two 3-pointers during the game, as C of I registered 11 long-range shots on 38 tries (28.9%). The Yotes shot 45.7% overall (37 of 81) and limited Evergreen to 32.9% ( 19 of 59).
Evergreen took an 8-6 lead on a jump shot by
Garret Long (Jr., G/W) with 15:52 remaining in the first half. After C of I tallied six consecutive points, Joseph sank a 3-pointer for the Geoducks to pull TESC within 12-11. The Yotes countered with a 12-0 run, ending with two free throws by Caden Handran with 11:29 on the clock for a 24-11 lead.Â
Nathan Behr (Jr., F/W) of Evergreen scored next, but the Yotes eventually claimed a 39-22 edge with 4:12 left in the half. C of I owned a 51-24 advantage at the break. Wyman earned 10 points for the Yotes in the first half, while Campbell tallied all eight of his points for Evergreen in the opening period.
College of Idaho continued to pull away in the second half. Radford and Wilson both scored eight points in the second half. Graham put through eight points for the Geoducks over the final 20 minutes.
Evergreen will play at Eastern Oregon University in a CCC game on Saturday, Feb. 22. Tipoff in La Grande, Oregon, is scheduled for 5 p.m. PST.
