SPOKANE, Wash. -- Gonzaga University scored three goals in the first half and the Zags downed The Evergreen State College 3-0 in a men's soccer exhibition game on Friday, Aug. 15. The game was played in the evening at Luger Field on the Gonzaga Campus.
Alex Bazia scored two of the three goals for the Zags. He opened the scoring 10:34 into the game on an assist from Drew Pedersen. Paul Jones tallied the second goal at 34:06, as he scored unassisted. Bazia completed the scoring with an unassisted goal about a minute later at 35:07. Neither team scored in the second half.
Chema Preciado played the first 31:17 in goal for Gonzaga to record the goalkeeping win. Diego Ramirez and Dylan Isasi also contributed to the shutout. Ramirez and Isasi each registered one save.Â

Thomas Cole (Jr.) saw action throughout the first half and achieved five saves.
Gabriel Wilhelm (Fr., GK) earned one save while playing the final 45 minutes.
Gonzaga finished with a 16-2 advantage in total shots and a 9-2 edge in shots on goal. Pedersen topped all players with four total shots.

Anthony Diaz (Fr., F) each took one shot for the Geoducks.
Evergreen will open the regular season on Saturday, Aug. 23 at George Fox University. Game time in Newberg, Oregon, is set for 5 p.m. PDT.
