FOREST GROVE, Ore. -- The Evergreen State College lost at Pacific University 1-0 in the Geoducks' season opener on Thursday, Aug. 21 at Hanson Stadium. It was an exhibition game for the Boxers.

Katelyn Sanders of Pacific scored the game's only goal at 63:54. The goal was unassisted. The Boxers maintained their slim lead for the rest of the game.

Evergreen's starting goalkeeper, Anna Varela (Sr.), played the first half and registered three saves while helping the Geoducks battle to a 0-0 tie at the break. Katie Gresham (Jr.) played in goal during the second half and earned one save while allowing the goal by Sanders.

The Boxers took eight shots during the game, while placing five shots on target. The Geoducks finished with one shot and no shots on goal. Izzy Widener (So., F) was credited with Evergreen's shot. Pacific held a 5-1 advantage in corner kicks.

Up next for the Geoducks is a game at Whitman College on Saturday, Aug. 30. Game time in Walla Walla, Washington, is set for 12 p.m. PDT.
