OLYMPIA, Wash. -- Autumn Apana-Purcell from the University of Providence (Mont.) scored two goals to lead the Argos in a 2-0 win against The Evergreen State College on Thursday, Oct. 1 in Cascade Collegiate Conference action at Geoduck Pitch. Both goals were scored in the first half.
The Argos improved to 3-5-0 on the season, 3-2-0 in the CCC. Evergreen fell to 0-5-2 overall, 04-1 in the CCC.
Apana-Purcell scored the first goal at 22:21 on a 20-yard shot to the upper right corner of the net. She was assisted by Jaelyn Chaddonnet. Apana-Purcell doubled the lead at 34:27 on a 45-yard free kick into the top middle of the goal.
Providence earned a slim 12-11 edge in total shots during the game and held an 8-4 margin in shots on target. Evergreen finished with a 5-4 lead in corner kicks.

Melina Grijalva (Jr.) and
Katie Gresham (Sr.) each played 45 minutes for the Geoducks. Grijalva made three saves in the first half, and Gresham registered three saves in the second half.
The Argos outshot Evergreen 7-3 in the first 45 minutes. The Geoducks gained an 8-5 advantage in shots during the second half.
Anna Mortensen (Sr., M) of Evergreen led all players with four total shots and had one shot on goal.
Madeline Dorendorf (Sr., F) added three shots for the Geoducks, including two shots on goal. Apana-Purcell, Andrea Watson, and Chandonnet each contributed three shots for Providence. Apana-Purcell and Watson both place two of their shots on target.
Evergreen will host Corban University in a CCC game on Friday, Oct. 9. Game time at Geoduck Pitch is set for 12:30 p.m. PDT.
